Steel Shelving Unit - Strong And Durable
Now days there are many a ways to store things. One of them is through storage racks. Storage racks can be of a variety of materials like plastic, wooden or metal. In the metal segment, steel shelving units are the most common, and the most popular due to their durability and the fact that they can sustain heavy loads of weight. These steel shelving units are simply storage racks made of galvanized steel that are used to store things in an organized fashion. These units can be used in homes, in offices, in warehouses or for other industrial purposes. Of course the shape, size and design of these units will differ upon the usage it is intended for, and so will the price. The steel shelving unit is the most preferred mode of storing things because of the various advantages it has. First and foremost it is made of galvanized steel; therefore one need not worry about the rusting or maintenance part of his unit. Secondly, it is made up of steel so it does not require any painting once it is installed. It also does away with the need to worry about pests, termites or it getting damaged because of water, as steel can weather these factors well. They are also very easy to handle and look chic, in line with the contemporary designs of any living or industrial area. And lastly, because they are not very heavy, they are very easy to install and hence user friendly. Types: Industrial shelving units These units are made out of heavy duty steel and used in industries where a lot of impact tolerance is required. You wouldn't want your metal unit to break or crumble if hit by a forklift or if heavy weights are loaded on them, especially when it has been designed for industrial use. These units are primarily of two types; Widespan and Longspan. The traditional shelf is called the Wide-span while the more contemporary Widespan offers compartmentalized space. Steel Warehouse Shelving This type of shelving is of two types, the open metal unit and the closed metal unit. The traditional form of shelves is the open metal unit that makes provision for both front and side access while the closed metal units are ideal for more secure storage space. Rivet metal shelving units These are cheaper options of metal shelving units that offer great storage space and are ideal for corporate and personal use. They can be easily assembled and serve every purpose of storage. The other alternative to metal is plastic shelving units. But in comparison to metal these plastic units will not be able to take as much weight. Plastic units also cannot handle rough handling which is something that storage equipment has to tolerate. These units can be used for various purposes: they can be used in homes in the dining area for storing liquor bottles, in the kitchens for keeping vegetables, utensils or jars. Apart from this they can also be used in places like libraries for keeping books. Amongst the popular brands in the steel shelving units are: Gorilla’s rack steel framed unit with 5 shelves 48”x18”x72”, priced at $54.99, Seville’s Classic SHE18370B 18”x36”x72” costs $149.99,Edsal’s 4 shelved unit 30”x15”x60” is priced at 34.95 and Whitmor’s 6070-267 5- tiered shelving unit is priced at $99.99
